The alms-robe donation during the Kahtina (Kathina) season is the most beneficial alms-donation among regular daily donations.
There are five opportunities that the monks can enjoy: they are
- An opportunity to go round without informing other monks;
- An opportunity to go round without carrying the heavy double-layered robe;
- An opportunity to eat group meal even though it is accepted in an improper way;
- An opportunity to use or keep extra robes; and
- An opportunity not to share the robes of Sangha’s property with other monks who do not participate in the Kahtina (Kathina).
In return, the lay-donors of the Kahtina (Kathina) robe to the monks can get the following five corresponding benefits:
- An opportunity that they can go round anywhere without have disturbance and danger;
- An opportunity that their belongings will not be destroyed by enemies even when the belongings are away from them;
- An opportunity that they will have plenty of sumptuous food and will not have poisonous food;
- An opportunity that their property will be kept safe even though being left forgotten for a long time; and
- An opportunity that they will gain greater profits than others on their commercial activities and even winning lottery.
