Summary of Venerable U Sanda’s Dhamma talk on May 12, 2019 to mark the Buddha (Vesak) day that was sponsored by Daw San Thawda Kyaing and family is:
There is a huge difference between Buddha’s physical body and his attributes and achievements. The physical body lived only 80 years but the attributes last much longer than anything else. They even outlast the life of the earth. Even after the earth perishes from our solar system, his attributes will still continue to live. The attributes include unlimited wisdom on nature, life and eternal peace; infinite teaching power to tame all beings and show them what is right and what is wrong, and even a path to eternal peace (Nibbana); unlimited supernatural power; and infinite compassion to all beings. Buddha has no defilement on whatever and whenever he sees, hears, touches, tastes, thinks and knows. It means that he is in complete equanimity when touches anything at all his six senses (doors): - he has no greed, hatred or delusion. We pay our respect most to those attributes that save millions of beings from the cycle of rebirths.
We, therefore, should not only envy what he did for all beings while he was alive but also do the best for the humanity while we are alive.
