Summary of 2019 Kahtina
As you know that among the donation events, the Kahtina robe donation is the greatest. With the donation, you may get what you wish for.
After building and donating Pubbarama Monastery, which is also known as Migāramātupāsāda, meaning “Migaramata’s Palace” the Lord Gautama Buddha at the Kosalan capital of Savatthi, Migaramata Visakha recites happily among others that she has fulfilled her wish, which she made at the time of Padumattara Buddha.
Therefore, may we wish for the fulfillment your wish after today’s donation.

September 15, 2019 Dhamma Talk Summary
We all are visitors who have come into this world to stay for a while without being invited and then, will be gone without being pushed out. If we lose someone who is near and dear to our hearts, we will be sad, miserable, unhappy, agitated, depressed, agonized, furious, angry and so on. Why those happen to us? Because of affection or attachment. If someone who you don’t know passed away, you will not feel much because you have no affection or attachment to that person.
When the Lord Buddha was alive, Visakha also known as Migaramata (Migara’s mother) came to see the Lord Buddha after the funeral service of her granddaughter and cried in tears. The Lord Buddha asked how many children like her granddaughter she wished to have in Savatthi. She replied that she wished to have the whole city if they were like her. Then, the Buddha asked how many of Savatthians died a day, she replied “Uncountable, my Lord!”. Then, the Buddha said, “If so, you will be crying all day and all night for those uncountable losses every day because of your attachment. Tears coming out from peoples’ eyes throughout the Samsara can fill more than four big oceans in the world for the losses of their loved ones.
Therefore, we should try to detach the affection at this very life in order to stop those tears, sadness, misery, unhappiness, agitation, depression, agony, fury, anger and so on.
Sadhu! Sadhu!”
Dhamma Talk
The Lord Buddha says “To hear Dhamma at an appropriate time” is one of the 38 supreme blessings. We, therefore, invite you and your loved ones to come and hear the Dhamma talk on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at the temple.Continue reading →

Summary of Dhamma talk for the Waso Robe offering ceremony
Sponsored by Ko Phone Tint and Ma Aung May Myat on July 21, 2019
One who is stingy or who never donates anything to anyone may not be reborn in one of six Devas planes. One who donates something to someone will never be reborn into a woeful life.
One day, our Lord Buddha goes out for a routine alms receiving in the street when people are struggling to survive. A man of the street asks him why he is asking for alms from the people who are poor now. Then, the Lord Buddha uses Dibba-cakkhu and see the past lives and rebirths of all beings. Then, the Lord Buddha replies to him that he never sees anyone who donates, being born poor.

The event, sponsored by Daw Ohnma Han and Dhamma friends is as follows:
There are four supporting causes to become a Sotapanna, a stream-entrant to Nibbana: -
- To associate with wise people;
- To listen to the wise people’s Dhamma;
- To have a right view at a right time; and
- To practice and see true Dhamma oneself.
Who are the wise people? They are the ones who think, say and do the right thing at the right time that will not harm others but will get others to admire and praise.

Summery of Vesak Day Celebrations – 2019
Summary of Venerable U Sanda’s Dhamma talk on May 12, 2019 to mark the Buddha (Vesak) day that was sponsored by Daw San Thawda Kyaing and family is:
There is a huge difference between Buddha’s physical body and his attributes and achievements. The physical body lived only 80 years but the attributes last much longer than anything else. They even outlast the life of the earth. Even after the earth perishes from our solar system, his attributes will still continue to live. The attributes include unlimited wisdom on nature, life and eternal peace; infinite teaching power to tame all beings and show them what is right and what is wrong, and even a path to eternal peace (Nibbana); unlimited supernatural power; and infinite compassion to all beings. Buddha has no defilement on whatever and whenever he sees, hears, touches, tastes, thinks and knows. It means that he is in complete equanimity when touches anything at all his six senses (doors): - he has no greed, hatred or delusion. We pay our respect most to those attributes that save millions of beings from the cycle of rebirths.
We, therefore, should not only envy what he did for all beings while he was alive but also do the best for the humanity while we are alive.
Vesak Day (Buddha Day) celebration
We will celebrate the Vesak Day (Buddha Day) on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at our temple. It is a very important day for all Buddhists around the world because it is the day when the Buddha-to-be was born, the day when the Buddha attained the Buddhahood and the day when the Buddha passed away from the Circle of Rebirth (reached Nibbana).Continue reading →
Summery of Myanmar New Year Celebrations 2019
Summary of Venerable U Sanda’s Dhamma talk at Myanmar new year event on April 21, 2019 that was sponsored by Dr. Tun Zan Maung, Daw Khin Khin Oo and family:
Sadhu! Sadhu!
When a new year comes, we should reflect what we have done last year: whether we have accumulated merit (kuso), we have earned wealth, we have learned knowledge, we have kept in shape, we have improved our status or we have had a promotion at work.
However, we should not be arrogant for our achievements and accomplishments but we should use them wisely. We should bear in mind that the physical properties we have accumulated are common properties, not permanent personal properties because they may disappear one day by five causes: fire, government, water (flood), thief and someone or something who we don’t like.
If we don’t use them wisely that means we abuse them or attach to them extremely, we will be in trouble in this life and/or in the next existence (samsara). If so, they may become our enemies. Therefore, we should use them wisely: we use them for our benefits and others’. With them, we should do wholesome merits: donate some appropriately, take precepts, build our mental concentration, do insight mediation and learn empirical knowledge on Dhamma. Those merits of donation, moral, concentration, and insight empirical knowledge are our permanent properties that will follow us like a shadow in the samsara if we are reborn in the next life.

We, however, will have a day retreat on Sunday, March 31, 2019 as usual. So far, we have no lunch donor and therefore, most likely all yogis bring their favourite dish to share with others.
Summery of Kathina Celebrations – October 28, 2018
The alms-robe donation during the Kahtina (Kathina) season is the most beneficial alms-donation among regular daily donations.
There are five opportunities that the monks can enjoy: they are
- An opportunity to go round without informing other monks;
- An opportunity to go round without carrying the heavy double-layered robe;
- An opportunity to eat group meal even though it is accepted in an improper way;
- An opportunity to use or keep extra robes; and
- An opportunity not to share the robes of Sangha’s property with other monks who do not participate in the Kahtina (Kathina).
In return, the lay-donors of the Kahtina (Kathina) robe to the monks can get the following five corresponding benefits:
- An opportunity that they can go round anywhere without have disturbance and danger;
- An opportunity that their belongings will not be destroyed by enemies even when the belongings are away from them;
- An opportunity that they will have plenty of sumptuous food and will not have poisonous food;
- An opportunity that their property will be kept safe even though being left forgotten for a long time; and
- An opportunity that they will gain greater profits than others on their commercial activities and even winning lottery.
Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu!
Summary of Dhamma Talk, September 16, 2018
A good teacher is the one who wants her/his students prosperous and shows the right way when they are heading towards a wrong way. S/he might be sometimes harsh in her/his words and tones when showing the right way but s/he has always the best interest in them. Parents are also the first teachers to their child. So, the teacher and the parent are regarded as someone who gives us invaluable treasure. One can be prosperous with the guidance of a good teacher. We should be the one who cherishes and re-pay the enormous gratitude of our teachers and parents. We should not be the one who acts against them.
Sadhu! Sadhu!
