A Celebrating of Life of Nu Nu Yawnghwe
Dear Dhamma friends,
Nu Nu Yawnghwe’s family invites friends and family to join in celebrating the life of Nu Nu Yawnghwe, who passed away in the winter of 2022.
Nu Nu was beloved by by many, and lived with an enthusiasm and zest for life.
Nu Nu helped many and touched many lives. Nu Nu Yawnghwe’s family invite you to share stories about her: email your messages, videos, audio to nunumemorial@gmail.com – these will be shared during the celebration.
Beverages and light snacks will be served in the event.

Resuming Weekly Meditation & Monthly Retreat
The monthly day retreat will also resume on Sunday 28th May 2023 from 9 am to 5 pm. Meditators are advised to bring a potluck dish to share on this day retreat.
A combination of Myanmar New Year Day and Vesak Day Ahlu will be held on Sunday, 25th June 2023 at MTBS. Dr. Tun Zan Maung and Dr. Khin Khin Oo’s family will donate Monhingar for the monk and all Dhamma friends.

Postponement of Myanmar (Burmese) New Year celebration, Buddha (Vesak) day celebration, and cancellation of April day retreat
We regret to inform you that Myanmar (Burmese) New Year celebration, scheduled on April 16 (Sunday), Buddha (Vesak) day celebration, scheduled on May 7 (Sunday), and April day retreat, scheduled on April 30 (Sunday) at the MTBS monastery are postponed/cancelled, due to the absence of Sayadaw U Sanda. One hour meditation on each Saturday at 3 pm is also cancelled until further notice.
We will combine Myanmar (Burmese) New Year and Buddha (Vesak) day celebrations together in May 2023. We will announce in advance when the date is fixed. Dr Tun Zan Maung and family will kindly donate the food for that event.
Resuming weekly meditation and monthly meditation retreat at MTBS
We are delighted to let you know that we are resuming our once-a-week, 1-hour meditation, starting from next Saturday, 25th March 2023, at 3 pm.
We will have a monthly day retreat on Sunday, 26th March 2023, from 9 am till 5 pm. Lunch for the day retreat will be provided by Ko Than Htut, Ma Myint Myint Mon, and the son: Victor family.
We will celebrate Myanmar New Year Ahlu on Sunday, April 16th, 2023. Dr. Tun Zan Maung and Dr. Khin Khin Oo’s family will generously donate food for the event.
Cancellation of the next MTBS February Day Retreat
There will be no one day meditation retreat this Sunday (February 26, 2023) as we are anticipating heavy snow and also Sayardaw U Sanda is visiting Buddhist Sangha community at Myanmar monastery in Hawaii.
We will also pause Saturday 1 hour meditation sessions at the monastery until U Sanda returns (mid March). We will let all our dhamma friends know when the weekly Saturday 1 hour meditation sessions will resume.

Invitation to meditation retreat
We wish all our Dhamma Friends Happy New Year 2023!
For this coming New Year, we would like to start our monthly one day Meditation retreat (on the last Sunday of the month) starting on January 29th 2023.
For this retreat Sayardaw U Sanda has some guidance for the meditators to follow.
1. Retreat will be from 9 am till 5 pm and meditators to be on time in the morning to pray and take 5 precepts before the meditation starts together with Sayardaw. Also Sayardaw will give Dhamma Talk in the evening and will distribute merit before we leave at 5pm. Sayardaw requests that you stay for the full period of the time.
2. Lunch time will be from 11 am till 12 noon and Sayardaw has requested no socializing or talking at any time during the whole period of the retreat.
3. Sayardaw has suggested one hour sitting and one hour walking during the retreat but meditators can also choose their meditation routine.
In addition to the monthly day meditation retreat, we will have one hour weekly meditation every Saturday at 3 pm starting 7th January 2023 with the guidance of Sayardaw U Sanda for the Novice meditators and for anybody who can give little time and can’t join the monthly retreat,or who would like to come routinely every week.
Hope we all can start our New Year with good merits for the coming year.
Special Dhamma Talk and Potluck Ceremony
We plan to hold a special Dhamma talk and Potluck ceremony on Sunday, December 11, 2022 in the fond memorial of a former MTBS board member Daw Nu Nu Yawnghwe who passed away on November 11, 2022.
The event agenda is the following:

10:05 a.m. – Listening to Dhamma talk,
11:15 a.m. – Offering lunch to Venerable U Sanda, and
11:30 a.m. – Potluck Lunch.

It is a community event – a potluck lunch, and there is no donor/sponsor for the event. Please bring your favorite dish(es)/food(s)/dessert(s) to be shared. The MTBS will prepare rice and cutlery for the event.

We plan to hold a special Ahlu (ceremony) on Sunday, November 27 2022 at MTBS.
The lunch (Mote-hin-gar) donors are U Myint Aung and Daw Phyu Phyu family.

You can also take some wholesome merit (Kuso) by laying the tables and chairs for all attendees and well-wishers before the event, taking them down and doing clean-up after the event.
There will be more parking spots available inside the next door compound on the 108th Ave.
