Myanmar New Year with Dhamma Talk, Sunday, April 17, 2022
We are going to celebrate the Myanmar New Year with Dhamma talk on Sunday April 17, 2022 at the temple. Even though most of the restrictions on gathering indoors regarding the COVID-19 have been lifted, we encourage you to wear face marks as much as if possible for the safety of yourselves and others as a pre-cautionary measure. We hope every attendee has been vaccinated, too.
Dr. Tun Zan Maung, Daw Khin Khin Oo and family will generously donate lunch to all attendees.
You and your loved ones are cordially invited to the event.

Time:
10:00 a.m. – Taking five precepts,
10:05 a.m. – Listening to Dhamma talk,
11:15 a.m. – Offering lunch to Venerable U Sanda, and
11:20 a.m. – Lunch (Mote-hin-gar) to well-wishers.
You can also take some wholesome merit (Kuso) by laying the tables and chairs for all attendees and well-wishers before the event, taking them down and doing clean-up after the event.
There will be more parking spots available inside the next door compound on the 108th Ave.
2022 Planned Events
We are going to hold the Myanmar New Year celebration and Dhamma talk on April 17, 2022. The event will be sponsored by Dr. Tun Zan Maung and family.
However, we don’t any sponsor for the following events:
- Buddha Day on May 15, 2022
- Waso Robe offering on July 10, 2022 and
- Kathina Robe offering on November 6, 2022. This event can be sponsored by a group of donors who can donate $100 each.

2021 Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony
We would like to celebrate Kahtina Robe offering event at the temple with six members of the Sangha, including Venerable U Sanda on Sunday, November 7, 2021. Mote Hin Gar (Burmese noodle in fish gravy) for the event will be donated by Dr. Tun Zan Maung, Dr. Khin Khin Oo and family in the fond memorials of their late beloved parents, U Reggie Tun Maung and Daw Mitzi Tun Maung.
We will make sure all attendees are fully COVID-19 vaccinated according to BC and Canada health department guidelines and regulations. You should, therefore, bring the proof of vaccination: paper copy or QR code in your cell phones. We should take up to 50 attendees for the celebration.
Therefore, we need you to RSVP by Sunday, October 31, 2021: who and how many of you will come. You can either email to this address or phoning at the following numbers:

Revised Waso Robe Offering Ceremony 2021
As a precautionary measure due to the suspected fourth wave of COVID-19, we would like to cancel the public gathering for the Dhamma Talk and Waso Robe offering of the event on August 15, 2021. Therefore, the Dhamma talk will be postponed until further notice. However, well-wishers and donors can still come and do their donation and take Mote-hin-gar home (as a take-out only) as they wish.
You can still donate by one of the following three methods if you can’t make it to the event.

Kahtina Robe Offering Ceremony – 2020
This year Kahtina Robe offering ceremony will be held by Venerable U Sanda and at least five other invited members of the Sangha at the temple on November 8, 2020. However, members and public are not welcomed to attend the ceremony due to the exceptional circumstances surrounding the COVID-19. Therefore, there will not be a mass celebration of Kahtina Robe offering ceremony this year.
You and your loved ones can still achieve the wholesome merit by donating cash/cheque, toiletries or other suitable items for the members of the Sangha at the temple by November 8, 2020 morning. Before going to the temple, please kindly phone Venerable U Sanda at 604-951-9054. When you are at the temple, please comply with both BC and Canada health official guidelines that include wearing masks, social/physical distancing requirements, etc.
